Noise Reduction Project for the Sichuan Puguang Gas Field Boosting Station

The Puguang Gas Field is China’s first ultra-large, fully-developed marine gas field with high sulfur content, successfully put into production in 2009. As development progresses, the reservoir pressure has continued to decline, making it increasingly challenging to maintain stable production. The main wet-gas boosting project at Puguang is the country’s first large-scale boosted extraction project for an acidic gas field, and it ranks as one of Sinopec’s key surface engineering projects for 2024. Once completed, this project will effectively extend the development lifespan of the Puguang Gas Field while enhancing recovery rates!
Shenhua Company won the bid in March 2024 for the noise reduction project at Wellhead Gas Field No. 2’s boosting station, successfully completing the project by October of the same year. Operations commenced in November, with remarkable noise reduction results that fully met the design specifications. Meanwhile, the four high-sulfur-resistant compressor units under the boosting station, along with all associated system parameters, have been running smoothly, contributing to a daily increase of 1.5 million cubic meters of natural gas production in the main block of the Puguang Gas Field.
According to a report from China Petroleum & Chemical News on November 21, 2024: After the project is put into operation, the recovery rate of the main block in the Puguang Gas Field is expected to increase by 5 to 6 percentage points, extending the stable production period of the gas field by several years. This breakthrough provides a viable solution for significantly boosting recovery rates in the mid-to-late stages of development for similar gas fields, while also holding significant importance for refining China's domestic high-sulfur gas field development technology system and supporting the high-quality, cost-effective exploitation of such fields.
